PURPOSE: A fault diagnosis method and an apparatus using headspace gases for a transformer are provided to the malfunction of a transformer easily by measuring the total gases which is generated when a fault is generated in the transformer. CONSTITUTION: In a fault diagnosis method and an apparatus using headspace gases for a transformer, a detection unit(4) is installed in an upper space(3). The detection unit is comprised of gas, temperature, pressure, and moisture sensors. A controller(6) receives an output signal from each sensors of the detection unit and processes it. A display unit(5) implements remote transmission and informs a monitoring agent of a detection result.
