FIXING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus capable of preventing an occurrence of image defect while avoiding an operational failure and shortening of the lifetime due to contact between a rotating pressing member and a slide sheet.

SOLUTION: A fixing device includes: a rotating body (51); an endless belt (53); a heating means heating the rotating body or the endless belt; a drive means rotating the rotating body or the endless belt; a fixed pressing member (54a) which forms a nip area by pressing the endless belt toward the rotating body; a slide sheet covering the fixed pressing member; and a rotating pressing member (52c) which is disposed in an inside of the endless belt and in a downstream side of a feeding direction of the belt and which presses the endless belt toward the rotating body. In the fixing device, the fixed pressing member includes a pressing auxiliary member (54c) which is provided at a portion where the rotating body and the rotating pressing member is close to each other and in parallel to an axial direction of the rotating body and which is made from a material whose rigidity is higher than that of a peripheral material. The pressing auxiliary member is configured so as to project toward the fixed pressing member beyond a line extending from a surface facing to the rotating body of the fixed pressing member.
