<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treating agent holding a thin film readily available as substitute for a hardly available amide compound, and having excellent rust prevention and lubricity equal to or exceeding those of the amide compound, a surface treating method using the same, and a machine component having a gel thin film formed by the method and excellent in rust prevention and lubricity. <P>SOLUTION: The surface treatment agent contains 30-95 mass% of a volatile liquid of not more than 300°C in boiling point, contains 1-50 mass% of a glycerin fatty acid partial ester, and preferably also contains at least one selected from 1-50 mass% of a rust preventive agent, 1-50 mass% of polymethacrylate, 0.1-10 mass% of an organic molybdenum compound of as molybdenum, and 0.01-0.5 mass% of zinc alkyldithiophosphate as zinc. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
