摘要 Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, device and system for reducing a Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) in an Optical Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OOFDM) system, for restraining a nonlinear effect caused by a high PAPR. The method includes the following steps: generating m groups of OOFDM symbols, which carry the same information code element, based on m groups of random sequences with the same length generated by a scrambler; comparing the PAPRs of the m groups of OOFDM symbols; selecting the random sequence that yields a lowest PAPR, and scrambling the information code elements that need to be transmitted, to generate the OOFDM symbols. The present invention, even in an OOFDM system with the dispersion compensating fiber, can reduce the PAPR of the OOFDM symbols and select the random sequence that yields the lowest PAPR to generate OOFDM symbols, thus eliminating the nonlinear effect caused by the high PAPR and extending the transmission distance on the optical fiber.
