A scanning method and device, reverse scanning method and device in coding and decoding technology are provided. Wherein the scanning method includes: receiving quantized transform coefficients of the current block; obtaining the prediction direction of the current block; searching, according to the prediction direction, the scanning sequence corresponding to the prediction direction of the current block from the mapping relation table of the prediction direction and the scanning sequence, wherein there is at least one scanning sequence which corresponds to at least 2 prediction directions in the mapping relation table of the prediction direction and the scanning sequence; and performing scanning processing to the coefficients in the scanning sequence corresponding to the prediction direction of the current block. Use of the solutions of the present invention enables decrease of the number of the scanning sequences used in coding and decoding and reduction of the system complexity of the codec system.
