<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method for producing a peptide in order to produce a peptide using a culture that is easily solubilized and has high enzyme activity per unit. <P>SOLUTION: An AET expression strain obtained by replacing an N-terminal signal peptide of amino acid ester transpeptidase (AET) derived from Sphingobacterium multivorum with an N-terminal signal peptide of amino acid ester transpeptidase derived from Erwinia carotovora and an AET expression strain in which an N-terminal signal peptide is deleted at various parts are constructed and localized in a cytosol to give an AET culture having excellent enzyme activity.
