CATALYST FOR DECOMPOSING AMMONIA, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE CATALYST, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING HYDROGEN USING THE CATALYST

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for decomposing ammonia, which comprises a non-noble metal based metal that is advantageous in cost and has high practicability, as an active component and has high activity.

SOLUTION: The catalyst for decomposing ammonia comprises cobalt and additives being an oxide and/or a compound oxide of at least one element selected from the group comprising the elements of groups 2-5 and groups 12-15 of the long-form periodic table. The ratio (S2/S1) of the calculated specific surface area (S2) of cobalt to the specific surface area (S1) of the catalyst is 0.15-0.85.
