<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing a decrease in productivity when a developing unit for forming a toner image is changed in the middle of a continuous image forming using a plurality of developing units. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 10 comprises: a plurality of image forming units 16 including a photoreceptor 18 and the developing unit 22; and a control part 100. When images requiring developing units 22Y, 22M, 22C, and 22K and images requiring a developing unit 22K are mixed, the control part 100 continues operation of the developing units 22Y, 22M, and 22C in the case of forming the images requiring the developing unit 22K until a number of the images requiring the developing unit 22K becomes a predetermined number.
