<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To completely annihilate or remove aquatic organisms, bacteria and the like in ballast water loaded into a ballast tank by controlling a flow rate delivered from a ballast pump to be constantly equal to or lower than the handling capacity of a ballast water treatment apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The ballast water treatment system includes: a ballast pump 12 for delivering ballast water taken in from a sea chest 11 to a ballast tank 2; a flow rate regulating valve 13 for increasing and decreasing the flow rate of the ballast water delivered from the ballast pump 12 by changing an opening; a flowmeter 14 for measuring a flow rate of the ballast water that has passed through the flow rate regulating valve 13; a ballast water treatment apparatus 15 for treating the ballast water that has passed through the flowmeter 14; and a controller 17 for controlling the opening of the flow rate regulating valve 13 within a predetermined range so that the flow rate of the ballast water supplied to the ballast water treatment apparatus 15 does not exceed the handling capacity of the ballast water treatment apparatus 15, based on measured values measured by the flowmeter 14. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
