The invention relates to a segment (8) for an annular stator of a dynamo electric machine (14). The transport and assembly of such a machine (14) is simplified in that the segment (8) comprises a substantially circular arc-shaped cross-section, that the stator can be expanded by attaching one or more further segments, that the closed ring shape of the stator can be removed by separating the segments (8) from each other, and - that the segment (8) comprises at least one first coil (1,2,3) closed within the segment for each phase of an alternating current system, to which alternating current can be applied independently of the further coils of the further segments for generating a first pole pair of a rotating field.
