<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and compositions for inhibiting expression of a polynucleotide sequence of hepatitis C virus in an in-vivo mammalian cell, including administering to the mammalian cell a double-stranded RNA effector molecule comprising an at least 19 contiguous base pair nucleotide sequence in vivo. <P>SOLUTION: Conserved consensus sequences from known hepatitis B virus strains and known hepatitis C virus strains are useful in inhibiting the expression of the viruses in mammalian cells. These sequences are useful to silence the genes of HBV and HCV, thereby providing therapeutic utility against HBV and HCV viral infection in humans. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
