<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the power steering control based on information to be inputted via an on-vehicle LAN by an inexpensive device. <P>SOLUTION: An electric power steering device has a control device( main microcomputer) 503 including a motor indicator current determination means for determining the motor current indication value to a motor 6 based on at least the torque signal TRQ, and a motor current control means for controlling the motor current according to the motor current indication value, and a monitoring device ( sub microcomputer) 512 which detects any abnormality of the control device 503 from the torque signal TRQ and the motor current signal Imd, and limits the drive of the motor 6 when detecting any abnormality.
