<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which is equipped with multiple supply units supplying colorant of the same color and which achieves effective use of the supply units. <P>SOLUTION: A copy machine 100 can be equipped with multiple process units (supply units) using colorant of the same color, and in printing print data using the colorant of the color, it decides which process unit to be used in response to a type of the print data. For example, the type of print data is determined depending on the setting of printing quality (high quality, toner saving mode and so on).
