<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide constitution for simply switching a rotating direction of a feed roller used for conveyance in a sheet-shaped material feeding apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The automatic document feeding apparatus (ADF) includes a conveyance roller which can bidirectionally rotate, a motor 90 which produces torque for driving the conveyance roller, a power branching gear 94, transmission gears 95 to 98, an electromagnetic clutch 91, the number of gear sheets adjusting part 99 and a control part. The transmission gears 95 to 98 transmit the torque to the conveyance roller. The electromagnetic clutch 91 can switch whether the torque is transmitted to the power branching gear 94. The number of gear sheets adjusting part 99 can change the number of transmission gear sheets through which the torque is transmitted to the conveyance roller. When a rotation direction of the rotating conveyance roller is switched, the control part controls the electromagnetic clutch 91 at first to intercept the torque and further the number of transmission gear sheets through which the torque is transmitted is increased or reduced by one sheet.
