<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for separating and identifying a thermophylic ammonia oxidizing bacterium from compost, the bacterium being used in composting of livestock feces and urine to become a high temperature, and inexpensively producing compost having a high fertilizer value in a short period of time using the bacterium without emitting a foul odor of ammonia, etc. <P>SOLUTION: The microorganism has 16S rDNA composed of a base sequence having ≥95% homology to a specific base sequence and ammonia oxidizing ability at a high temperature of 50-55°C and belongs to the genus Bacillus.
