<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a carrier using less number of parts and machining steps, while improving a yield of a material. <P>SOLUTION: A raw material W is prepared that includes portions 3p for sidewall and portions 4p for seat surface alternatively arranged in the periphery of a flange 2. The portions 4p are expanded to form a seat surface 4 of a pinion gear and an opening 6 for exposing the pinion gear.
