A method and a relevant device and system for determining network element running state are disclosed, wherein the method includes: triggered by a fault detection event corresponding to a target network element, a network management device sends a fault-detection-driving message to at least one relevant network element close to the target network element so as to drive the at least one relevant network element to detect the running state of the target network element; a fault-detection-driving response message is received from the at least one relevant network element, wherein the message carries the detection result of the running state of the target network element; the running state of the target network element is determined by synthesizing the detection results from each of the relevant network elements. The technical solution provided by the present invention is beneficial for the network management device to improve the determination accuracy of the running state of network elements. |
