<p>A punch (10) for removing hair follicles from a donor site comprises a generally tubular body (12,112) having a proximal end region (16, 116) terminating in a tissue - cutting edge (118), a distally- extending segment (262) of reduced outer diameter-preferably a generally concave segment (262) - terminating at its proximal end at or near the cutting edge (118) and terminating at its distal end with a diameter substantially the same or greater than the diameter of the cutting edge(118). The punch(10) further includes a follicle - receiving chamber (17, 117) defined by an inner wall extending distally from the proximal end (16, 116) of the punch (10). Preferably, at least a portion of the chamber (17, 117) lying within the external region of reduced diameter is generally converging in the distal direction.</p> |
