<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a printer control method which can report information on ink consumption to a host computer. <P>SOLUTION: The printer 100 prints according to a print job sent from the host computer 300. The printer 100 includes a job information storage unit 190 capable of storing various information about the print job, a reception unit 110 for receiving the print job from the host computer 300, a printing control unit 150 for printing paper in a predetermined ink according to the print job, a printing result evaluation unit 175 for evaluating the result of printing based on the print job, a shot count conversion unit 170 for calculating the number of ink shots used for printing based on the print job, and a job information management unit 180 for recording the ink shot count used for printing based on the print job and the result of printing based on the print job in association with a job ID of the print job in the job information storage unit 190. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
