<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical absolute position length-measurement type encoder which enhances detection accuracy of an absolute (ABS) pattern and reduces the influence of noise caused by a dust and the like on a scale. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical absolute position length-measurement type encoder which includes a relatively movable detector and a scale 12, which has a light-emitting element 11 for detecting an absolute position, an optical system (lens 13) and a light-receiving element (photodiode array 14) arranged in the detector side and which has a predetermined absolute pattern 32 arranged in the scale side, the absolute pattern 32 is divided into a length measurement direction and an edge position of a part of the absolute pattern is changed to the length measurement direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
