WATER-COOLED COVER FOR TREATMENT VESSEL FOR METAL MELT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-cooled cover for a treatment vessel for metal melts reducing various kinds of problems attributable to a lump of splash generated in the treatment vessel to at least a permissible range.

SOLUTION: A water-cooled cover 10 for a treatment vessel for metal melts is formed dome-like, wherein the ratio h/D of the inner clear height h from a lower side of a flange on the inner side of the water-cooled cover 10 to the inner clear diameter D of the flange 12 is set to at least 0.2. An inner wall 14 of the water-cooled cover 10 is formed substantially smooth and free of grooves and gaps. Cooling channels 15 are arranged on the outer side of the inner wall 14. The cooling channels 15 keep the surface temperature of the inner wall 14 at a temperature of ≤350°C.
