It is provided a fluid-operated cylinder for a vehicle (2) adapted to handle material, in which said cylinder (1) has a major extension direction (1 a) and comprises at least two sections (4) having an extension direction substantially coincident with said major extension direction (1a): an outer section (4a) adapted to surround at least part of the cylinder (1), and an inner section (4b) adapted to slide along the direction (1 a) relative to the outer section (4a); and in which at least the inner section (4b) has a coating (5) including at least one outer layer (5a) of a material of high hardness, and suitable to externally coat at least one of said sections (4).
