[Class 110(ii)] A rotor 10 on a shaft 8 carries ring teeth 11 which mesh with three or more pinions 13 which rotate on stub shafts 14 carried by fixed end cheeks 6 supporting radial partitions 15. For a pump, circumferentially-arranged inlet and outlet passages 2, 3 communicate with main inlet and outlet ports 4, 5 respectively. Fluid passes through inlets 12 and is carried between pairs of ring teeth or by the pinions to the outlets 3. For a motor, working fluid under pressure enters through the port 4 and is exhausted through the port 3. |
