A catchpit comprises an opening in a wall 34 defining a passageway for one or more cables 14 to pass into the catchpit. A cable security device for securing the cable relative to the catchpit comprises a plate 42 with an aperture, a gripping mechanism to grip the cable and a retention mechanism such as pins 18 to hold the device. The gripping means may be a collet 16, which may be in two halves and have internal teeth (56, Fig 4). The device may be larger than the opening and thus prevent theft by preventing the cable being pulled through the opening from another catchpit. A guide pin 54 may position the device on a catchpit wall. The device may also comprise two plates with resin injected between them. |
