A method of, and apparatus for determining the size of particles within a tablet, the method comprising: irradiating a tablet with pulsed radiation having at least one frequency in the range from 40GHz to 100THz and detecting radiation which has been transmitted through or reflected by the tablet to establish the amplitude of the electric field of the measured THz radiation over time (t). The method further comprises irradiating a reference sample with pulsed radiation having at least one frequency in the range from 40G Hz to 100THz and radiation detected which has been transmitted through or reflected by the reference to establish the amplitude of the electric field of the measured THz radiation over time (t) and calculating the extinction spectra for frequency v; and plotting said extinction spectra to determine information about the particle sizes within said tablet. |
