The invention concerns a method for selection of a modulation and coding scheme for transmission between a first device and a second device based on channel state information, wherein the second device repeatedly sends channel state information to the first device, the first device determines a first value of a channel quality parameter based on a channel state information, the first device determines a time-dependent variation of the channel quality parameter based on at least two channel state information reported at different points in time, the first device determines a second value of the channel quality parameter based on the first value of the channel quality parameter and the time-dependent variation of the channel quality parameter, and the first device selects a modulation and coding scheme based on the second value of the channel quality parameter, and a device therefor.
