PURPOSE: A passenger identifying device is provided to enhance sensitivity by preventing electric field between first and second electrodes from becoming spread in all directions. CONSTITUTION: A passenger identifying device(100) comprises first and second electrodes(20,30), ammeter, and a switch(60). The first electrode is arranged in a seat. The second electrode is arranged away from the first electrode. Electric field is formed between the first and second electrodes. The ammeter measures current depending on the change in electric field by a passenger, who sits on the seat. The switch is mounted on the seat and is electrically connected or disconnected from the first electrode and/or the second electrode. The switch is switched on or off by the weight of a passenger.
