The air jet filter (1) has a housing (2), where a filter (7) is arranged into the housing. A slot nozzle (6) is provided under a filter base (8). The filter machine has a measuring head (16), by which the particles are detected in the air flow. The measuring head is arranged in flow direction of the particle air flow after the filter base and before a downstream filter. An independent claim is also included for method for operating an air jet filter for a grain size analysis of a sample of a material.
