PURPOSE: A mobile terminal and a control method thereof are provided to selectively activate a first letter input mode and a second letter input mode. CONSTITUTION: A projector is prepared to one end of the stick type body. A gesture detecting sensor senses the gesture input of a user. A controller(180) selectively activates one text input mode between a first text input mode and a second text input mode. The second letter input mode is a mode that receives the letter through a writing input gesture of the user.
