The device has a container comprising a retaining area for accommodating vouchers and an opening. A cover (14) closes the opening, and a locking unit (30) locks the cover. A control unit controls another locking unit (40) that inhibits opening of the cover in a locked condition. The control unit adjusts the latter locking unit from the locked condition to an unlocked condition when a validation unit is adjusted from an activated condition to a deactivated condition, where the cover is not opened when the former locking unit and/or the latter locking unit is arranged in the locked condition.
