Method and device for determining the 3D coordinates of an object

The method involves scanning a surface area (1) of an object (2) by a scanner (3) for recovering object data. Three-dimensional coordinates of the surface area of the object are transmitted to a controller (5) based on a position and orientation of the scanner, object data, and position data. The object data from the scanner is wireless transmitted to the controller. The object data and the position data are synchronized by a wireless transmission. The controller and/or the scanner produce a synchronization signal. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining three-dimensional coordinates of a surface area of an object.
