PURPOSE: A positive electrode active material and a lithium secondary battery using the same are provided to improve stability and to prolong service life, and to avoid the degradation of a battery by adding a small amount of lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide. CONSTITUTION: A positive electrode active material comprises one or more compounds selected from the chemical formula 1: (1-s-t)[Li(LiaMn(1-a-x-y)NixCoy)O2]*s[Li2CO3]*t[LiOH], wherein 0<a<0.2, 0<x<0.9, 0<y<0.5, a+x+y<1, 0<s<0.03, 0<t<0.03. A positive electrode mixture for a lithium secondary battery comprises the positive electrode active material. A positive electrode is formed by applying the positive electrode mixture to a current collector. |
