<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roof side structure composed in a way that the efficiency of absorption and dispersal of the load on the roof side section is enhanced to reduce intrusion of the roof side section in order to increase the section modulus of the roof side section when securing the passenger space if a vehicle is overturned without sacrificing the vehicle interior space or requiring deep drawing press molding. <P>SOLUTION: A roof side rail 8 is composed of a closed cross-section configuration formed by joining an outer panel 8-1 and an inner panel 8-2 by joining together joint flanges 8-1a, 8-2a formed on both panels. The board thickness of the inner panel 8-2 is made thicker than that of the outer panel 8-1 so that (yield point of the outer panel 8-1)×(plate thickness)=A and (yield point of the inner panel 8-2)×(plate thickness)=B become A≤B and a material in which the yield point of the inner panel 8-2 becomes higher than the yield point of the outer panel 8-1 is used. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
