<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode catalyst material in which falling or aggregation of catalyst metal particles is prevented by suppressing corrosion or loss of catalyst metal in a conductive carrier, and which reduces the resistance loss by increasing the electrical conductivity of the electrode catalyst as a whole, and to provide a method of producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: In this electrode catalyst material for fuel cell having catalyst metal particles and a carbon carrier carrying the catalyst metal particles, a carbon carrier protective layer containing metal elements is formed on the surface of the carbon carrier, 20 atm% or more of metal elements contained in the carbon carrier protective layer is silicon, and the silicon exists in the state of oxides and carbides. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
