<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input system which allows a simple input operation without a need of operating a mobile terminal body. <P>SOLUTION: In an input system that includes a mobile terminal device with a short-distance communication function and an article such as a ring to be worn on a user's body, the article comprises: an article body; a gesture recognition device which detects a movement of the article body and calculates a trajectory thereof so as to recognize the movement as a character or a figure; and a short-distance communication device which transmits the character or the figure recognized at the gesture recognition device to the mobile terminal device.
