<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance, even in the presence of peaks identical in m/z on MS<SP POS="POST">2</SP>spectra of an unknown substance and of a known substance in spite of any difference in partial structure, the accuracy of identification by avoiding identification of any wrong partial structure. <P>SOLUTION: When candidates for identification are to be sought for by subjecting the MS<SP POS="POST">2</SP>spectra of unknown substances to database search (S2), if closely similar product ion peaks are found on the MS<SP POS="POST">2</SP>spectra (Yes at S3), those product ions are set as precursor ions for cleaving operation in the second phase (S4), and MS<SP POS="POST">3</SP>analysis of the unknown substance is executed (S5). If the peaks determined to be similar to each other on the MS<SP POS="POST">2</SP>spectra have the same partial structure, the MS<SP POS="POST">3</SP>spectrum of the unknown substance and the MS<SP POS="POST">3</SP>spectrum of the candidate for identification (a known substance) will coincide with each other. By utilizing this finding, the probability of correctness of the presumption of the partial structure in the MS<SP POS="POST">2</SP>spectrum phase is judged (S6), and the resultant judgment is displayed together with the result of identification (S7). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
