COMMUNICATION APPARATUS AND COMMUNICATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent incompatibility of a path switched by a communication apparatus such as an L2 switch having a redundancy configuration.

SOLUTION: A communication apparatus obtains configuration information from a configuration information storage unit storing the configuration information including information that relates to a configuration between a local apparatus and a communication destination apparatus and that indicates whether a path is selected by the local apparatus or not. The communication apparatus obtains the number of received frames from a received frame number storage unit storing the number of frames received from the communication destination apparatus for each path of the configuration between the local apparatus and the communication destination apparatus. The communication apparatus determines whether the number of frames received through a path selected by the local apparatus and the number of frames received through a path not selected by the local apparatus meet specified conditions, using the obtained configuration information and the number of the received frames. When the numbers of the frames meet the specified conditions, the communication apparatus detects switching of the path selected by the local apparatus.
