<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with a toner image density detecting function able to optically detect even a reference toner image with a high density, which is used for detecting a toner image density, by imparting adequate sensitivity to a sensor. <P>SOLUTION: A ratio of a linear velocity of an image conveying member 5 to a linear velocity of an image carrier 1 when a reference toner image Tp is transferred is set higher than the ratio of the linear velocity of the image conveying member to the linear velocity of the image carrier when a toner image T is transferred. A detecting member 11 detects the reference toner image elongated in a circumferential direction of the image conveying member according to a difference between the linear velocity of the image conveying member when the reference toner image is transferred and the linear velocity of the image conveying member when the toner image is transferred. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
