<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing libraries of biomolecules that are enriched for functional biomolecules. <P>SOLUTION: Methods and devices for more efficiently engineering diversity into recombinant polypeptides and/or nucleic acids includes: for example, a variety of methods for selecting and/or assessing potential crossover sites in an amino acid sequence or a nucleotide sequence; and the resulting chimeric product sequences.
