<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light emitting type EL element which achieves high emission efficiency and high extraction efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: In a surface light emitting type EL element comprising a plurality of layers including a light emitting layer 14 which, laminated between a pair of electrodes 11 and 16, produces emitted light upon application of an electric field of electrodes 11 and 16, a plurality of first fine particles 21 and a plurality of second fine particles 22 are distributed in film form across the light emitting layer 14 on one and the other sides of the light emitting layer 14, respectively. The first fine particles 21 are located at positions where a first plasmon electric field is generated which reflects emitted light on the light emitting layer 14 side upon irradiation of emitted light, and the second fine particles 22 are located at positions where a second plasmon electric field is generated which does not reflect emitted light on the light emitting layer 14 side upon irradiation of emitted light. Of the pair of electrodes 11 and 16, the one which is on the surface side, or the electrode 11, is made to be a light extracting electrode having a light transmitting property. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
