<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp readily manufactured and capable of improving durability of an encapsulation part. <P>SOLUTION: A discharge lamp of the present invention includes a glass bulb 1 which has a globe part 11, having a discharge space 22 inside, and an encapsulation part 12 provided adjacent to the globe part 11, a discharge medium sealed in the discharge space 22, and a mount 3 attached to the encapsulation part 12 by sealing. The mount 3 includes a first functionally gradient member 41 having a sealing part 411 and a conducting part 412, a glass bead (electrode support member) 5 having a through-hole 51, and an electrode 6 connected to the conducting part 412 of the first functionally gradient member 41 in the state that at least a part of the electrode 6 is disposed in the through-hole 51 of the glass bead 5.
