LIGHT-EMITTING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device capable of improving the air-tightness at low costs and securing a given gap distance between a first glass substrate and a second glass substrate.

SOLUTION: The light-emitting device includes: a plate-like first glass substrate 20; a plate-like second glass substrate 30 facing one surface of the first glass substrate 20; a frame-like joint section 40 that joins the first glass substrate 20 and the second glass substrate 30 and maintains the distance between the first glass substrate 20 and second glass substrate 30 at a given gap distance; and an organic EL element unit 15 stored in a package 1 that includes the first glass substrate 20, second glass substrate 30 and joint section 40. The joint section 40 is constituted by a low melting-point glass 42 mixed with a spherical spacer 41 that is formed by using a conductive material and has a diameter corresponding to the given gap distance.
