<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal capable of easily correcting characters in a 2-touch input type character input. <P>SOLUTION: When a numeral key "2" is pressed first and then a numeral key "3" is pressed secondly, numerals "2" and "3" are inputted. Then, a control part refers to a character table, acquires a character "Ku" (a character in Hiragana) corresponding to the combination of a two-digit numeral "23" comprising the first numeral "2" and the second numeral "3", and displays it on a display. Then, when a character correction key is pressed, a character correction function attains a character correction state for the displayed character "Ku", refers to the character table, converts it to the corresponding first numeral "2" and a symbol indicating standby for the input of the next numeral key, and displays them on the display.
