<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a raw film for production of optical films with defects indicated by marking, by which optical films cut into sheets can be obtained from the raw sheet with a good yield even once the raw film has been rolled, and to provide an optical film made of the raw film and a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: A raw film is long length of raw film for production of optical films by cutting and removing end parts positioned in the width direction of the film in the direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the film, the raw film having a flaw indicating a defect at the substantially same position in the longitudinal direction of the film as a location where the defect exists in any end part positioned in the width direction of the film. Further, an optical film is produced by cutting and removing the end part including the flaw on the raw film and a part including the location where the defect exists.
