<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a magnetic recording medium which can greatly improve coverage of a protective layer with a lubricant film by eliminating variance on film thickness distribution of the lubricant film formed on a surface of the protective layer. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a magnetic recording medium, in which after at least a magnetic layer 34 is formed on a nonmagnetic substrate 31, gas of a raw material containing carbon is introduced into a pressure-reduced deposition chamber, the gas is ionized by plasma, and a protective layer 35 having a carbon film is formed on a surface of the nonmagnetic substrate 31 by using the ion, includes a step of cleaning the magnetic recording medium by using cleaning liquid containing hydrogen water. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
