<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce possibility of occurrence of rib destruction. <P>SOLUTION: An image display device includes: a first substrate 1 and a second substrate 10 that are disposed to oppose each other and construct an airtight container whose inside is reduced in pressure; and a spacer 7 that is provided between the first substrate and the second substrate and supports the airtight container from the inside. For the second substrate, a plurality of ribs 13 and 14 are formed linearly so as to sandwich respective rows of light-emitting members 9 therebetween, with the height of the plurality of ribs 13 and 14 being higher than that of the light-emitting members. The spacer extends in a second direction crossing a first direction, in which the plurality of ribs extend, and is positioned between the light-emitting members adjacent to each other in the first direction. The plurality of ribs include two or more first ribs 13 and at least one second rib 14, with a part of each first rib 13 crossing the spacer including a wide part 15, which is widened in the second direction and has a height that is higher than that of a part of the second rib crossing the spacer.
