<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nuclear fuel rod including a boost zone and fuel bundles which use the nuclear fuel rod. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel rod 300 may include first enriched uranium in a boost zone 310 of the fuel rod 300, and the boost zone 310 may be arranged directly at a bottom of the fuel rod 300. The fuel rod 300 may also include second enriched uranium in a second zone 320 of the fuel rod 300, and the second zone 320 is arranged over the boost zone 310. The fuel rod 300 may also include natural uranium in a third zone 330 of the fuel rod, and the third zone 330 is arranged over the second zone 320.
