METHOD OF PROCESSING BORON-CONTAINING DRAINAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of efficiently processing boron-containing drainage to reduce the generation amount of sludge even when a high concentration of oxide ions exists in a reaction process, such as drainage in which boron is eluted using hydrochloric acid from an absorbent such as an ion exchange resin or ion exchange fiber in which boron is absorbed.

SOLUTION: The method includes: the reaction process to add aluminum salt and a pH adjustor to the boron-containing drainage containing 500 mg/L of boron or more and form reaction solution in which insoluble precipitates are distributed; and a solid-liquid separating process to separate the insoluble precipitates in the reaction solution and extract processed water. The following conditions (1)-(4) are satisfied in the reaction process: (1) Cl-concentration of the reaction solution is of a concentration of boron or more; (2) Al3+concentration of the reaction solution is of the concentration of boron or more; (3) The total of Ca2+concentration and SO42-concentration of the reaction solution is of five times of Al3+concentration or less; and (4) pH of the reaction solution is 5-11.
