<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vacuum valve which is excellent in large current interrupting performance and voltage withstanding performance. <P>SOLUTION: An arc shield 10 disposed in a vacuum container 4 is constituted by a first arc shield 11, which is made of stainless, formed in a cylinder shape surrounding electrodes 6, 8 and a second arc shield 12 provided on an outer peripheral side of the first arc shield 11 and formed by material having higher thermal conductivity than stainless. In the first arc shield 11, a plurality of slits 11a are formed in a part of an arc area 20 corresponding to an arc generated when both electrodes 6, 8 are separated.
