<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal matrix composite for sliding members having sufficient breathability, low heat conductivity, and optimum cylinder bore characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The metal matrix composite is made of an aluminium alloy as a base material and has an alumina-silica short fiber compact as a framework. The metal matrix composite has a heat conductivity lower than 5.6, and includes ceramic particles having an average particle diameter of 20 μm or more, which is measured by laser diffraction/scattering particle size distribution measurement. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
